Manchester United

Manchester United Football Club is a soccer club playing in the English Premier League. The team is based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, The team is often called Man United or simply united by the fans. It has been using the name Manchester united since 1902 but was originally formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club. They moved to Old Trafford in 1910. Manchester United is the team that has won by far the most premier league titles and it was also the first British team ever to win the European cup. It is the most successful English team in the world by any standard and have a total of 53 domestic titles including 19 league titles. They also have 11 FA Cups, four League Cups and 19 FA Charity/Community Shields.

Manchester United has also been very successful internationally and have accumulated three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World cup.

Manchester United is the most valuable sport team in the world with a market value of $2.23 billion before the recent listing on the New York stock exchange. It is also the worlds third richest club. The only teams generating more income is Barcelona and Real Madrid. Manchester united has been listed on the stock exchange once before but was bought out by the Glazer family that remains the biggest single owner in the team. When Malcom Glazer bought the team in 2005 the deal valued the team at £800 million.

Manchester United is managed by Sir Alex Ferguson and the team has won 24 major honors since he took control over the team in November 1986.
