Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (Royal Madrid Football Club), commonly known as Real Madrid, is one of the best soccer teams in the world. They have together which arch rival Barcelona been dominating Spanish soccer since the 50s. The club is as the name suggest based in Madrid, Spain. The club was first formed in 1902 and was originally known as Madrid Football Club. The term Real is Spanish for Royal and was a title given to the club in the 1920s by King Alfonso XIII. The club has kept the royal crown in their logo ever since.

Real Madrid is the richest soccer club in the world followed by rival Barcelona that is the second richest club. Real Madrid generated €438.6 million in 2011 and is valued at €1.4 billion which makes it the worlds second most valuable soccer team after Manchester United which is valued at twice that amount.

Games between Real Madrid and Barcelona is known as “el Clásico” and attracts a very large crowd. Real Madrid plays at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium that has a 85,454 visitor capacity. The stadium is often filled with Real Madrid and Barcelona fans for “el Clásico.

They have won 31 La Liga titles, 18 Spanish “Copa del Rey” Cups, 8 Spanish Super Cups, 1 Copa Eva Duarte and 1 Copa de la Liga, 9 UEFA Champions Leagues (more than any other team), 2 UEFA Cups, 1 UEFA Super Cup and 3 Intercontinental Cups.
